DROP-INS
The Sefton Domestic Abuse Service provides the following support groups for all those affected by domestic abuse.
Monday
Held between 10am and 1pm at SWACA, 166 Knowsley Road, Bootle, L20 4NR.
Please note that this is a women-only service.
Wednesday
10am and 1pm at Netherton Family Wellbeing Centre, Magdalen Square, Netherton, L30 5QH.
Friday
10am and 1pm at Linaker Family Wellbeing Centre, Linaker Street, Southport, PR8 5DQ
RECOVERY TOOLKIT
The Rock Pool Domestic Abuse Recovery Toolkit is the UK’s Leading trauma-informed recovery Programme for adults who have experienced or witnessed domestic abuse but are no longer in that abusive relationship. This 12-week programme aims to provide the knowledge required to aid recovery from the effects of living with domestic abuse and is delivered face-to-face.

- Week 2 – Introduction to self-esteem
- Week 3 – Coping with the consequences of toxic stress
- Week 4 – The Effects of Abuse on children and parenting skills
- Week 5 – Self-esteem and affirmations
- Week 6 – Anger and conflict
- Week 7 – What about assertiveness
- Week 8 – Boundaries
- Week 9 – Trust
- Week 10 – Losses and gains
- Week 11 – Healthy relationships
- Week 12 – Actions for the future
COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT
The Sefton Domestic Abuse Service provides the opportunity for service users to process their trauma, rebuild self-esteem, and address mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, or PTSD.
Interventions:
- Individual Counselling: One-on-one sessions via internal counselling services.
- Psychological Therapy: Referral to Clinical Psychotherapist for complex cases
- Support Groups: Group therapy or peer support groups where survivors share their experiences and gain mutual support from others who understand their situation.
- Family and Child Counselling: For survivors with children, counselling may be offered to address the impact of domestic violence on family dynamics and children’s well-being.
